Culture of Learning
At Queens Preparatory Academy, we believe, when students are engaged in student-centered instruction that is relevant to their lives and the world, students will not only demonstrate excellence in high school, but will be prepared for success in college and life. It is our mission to ensure our scholars acquire the knowledge, skills and habits of mind to succeed in a challenging college program.
Academic Courses
At Queens Preparatory Academy, we provide rigorous, college preparatory curricula aligned to the Common Core Standards and other New York State Standards. Our principal and staff have adapted our curriculum to meet the needs our scholars.
STRONG CORE
Four-year course track for Math, Science, English and History for all scholars
Cybersecurity
Learn the top computer programming languages such as Java Script and Python through our 3-yearcybersecurity course sequence.
Cosmetology
The cosmetology program offers hands-on courses in hair styling, skincare, nail care, and salon management, preparing students for professional licensure and careers in the beauty industry.
Business Management
The business management program equips students with foundational skills in entrepreneurship, finance, marketing, and leadership, preparing them for college and careers in the corporate world.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND HEALTH
Scholars participate in P.E. where they learn how to play and participate in a variety of activities and sports. Students strengthen the body and develop team and leadership skills through these activities. Additionally, students take a single-term health course where they learn about healthy eating habits and how to enjoy a healthy, active lifestyle and avoid harmful behaviors.
THE FINE ARTS
The arts and serve as an outlet to express who we are. Scholars explore art through a variety of mediums from music, dance and photography to improvisation.
ADVANCED PLACEMENT COURSES
We offer Advanced Placement (AP) courses beginning in 10th grade to stretch and challenge our scholars intellectually. Scholars recommended by their teachers may select from a variety of AP Course offerings:
- AP English Language Arts
- AP English Literature
- AP Calculus
- AP Biology
AP courses also allow scholars to earn college credit depending on their exam score and the AP acceptance policy of the college they choose.

College Planning and Advisory
At Queens Preparatory Academy, we take heart to engage our scholars in creating a post-secondary plan from the first day of 9th grade. Through our four-year college ed and advisory course, our scholars explore their strengths, interests and goals and match these to researched post-secondary options to complete a post-secondary plan culminating in acceptance to a 2-year or 4-year college acceptance or career path.
